Established commercial and industrial insulation contractor | Brisbane, southern suburbs, plus South East Queensland sites | Full-time, ongoing
About the role
A well-established, Brisbane-based commercial and industrial insulation and sheet metal fabrication specialist is looking for experienced sheet metal tradespeople. The business designs, manufactures and installs insulation and sheet metal systems for mechanical, water treatment, chemical, mining, food and beverage, sugar, and oil and gas projects across Queensland and New South Wales, and works to recognised quality management standards.
There is immediate, ongoing work across several sheet metal trade disciplines:
- Sheet metal workers (pipe insulation and sheet metal cladding)
- Mechanical duct installers
- Workshop duct fabricators (round and square)
What you will be doing
- Marking out, forming and joining sheet metal using folders, guillotines, rollers and presses
- Fabricating round and rectangular ductwork in the workshop
- Cladding insulated pipework, vessels and tanks on site
- Reading and working from technical drawings
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safe work practices on every job
What you will need
- Solid hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, duct work, or insulation cladding
- The ability to read and work from technical drawings
- A focus on quality and safety - Reliability, and the ability to work in a small, hands-on team with a flat structure
Tickets and qualifications
- A trade qualification in sheet metal or engineering fabrication (for example a Certificate III in Engineering, Fabrication Trade), or an equivalent overseas qualification supported by relevant experience
- A current White Card (general construction induction card) for site work
- Helpful but not essential, and able to be completed after you start: EWP (elevated work platform) ticket, confined space, working at heights, and asbestos awareness
What is on offer
- Paid to the relevant modern Award, plus penalty rates and applicable allowances
- Full-time, ongoing work with a steady project pipeline
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) and all workshop tools and machinery supplied
- A direct, hands-on team with a flat reporting line to the workshop and site supervisors
Visa and work rights
Applicants must have, or be able to obtain, the right to work in Australia.
Visa sponsorship under the Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) program is available for suitably qualified overseas tradespeople.
Overseas applicants will need to meet the relevant skills assessment and English language requirements.
Required safety tickets can be completed in Australia after arrival.
