We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a high-performing design and engineering team supporting large-scale, brownfield operations across multiple industrial sites in regional Queensland.
This role will suit a technically strong engineer who thrives in a practical environment, working with assets that are both ageing and critical to operations. You'll oversee structural integrity, design, and compliance across a portfolio of complex industrial facilities, while mentoring graduate engineers and engaging with external design partners.
The Role
- Lead design, analysis, and calculations for new and existing structures in compliance with Australian and international standards.
- Provide technical guidance across engineering teams, ensuring projects meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Oversee structural drawings, specifications, and deliverables for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage budgets and timelines for design activities (typically <$1M).
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, driving high professional standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, systems, and design tools.
- Degree-qualified in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 5-10 years' experience in structural engineering, ideally in heavy industry (manufacturing, processing, mining, or similar).
- Chartered or RPEQ registration (or close to obtaining).
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, codes, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in structural analysis/design software (SpaceGass, FEA tools, drafting packages).
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Exposure to project management.
- Experience in industrial or process-driven industries.
- Background in brownfield projects with ageing infrastructure.
- Regional leadership exposure across multiple industrial sites.
